THE CONDITION:
The original | ASA ONLINE WEBSITE | was/is, in my option, as much a part of the
agency's legacy as any other mission or effort. The site was never an official (or unofficial) part of the agency, yet it served the
agency as a central collection point for documentation of collective memories , stories, and photographs, owned agency members,
many of which are long gone, and now their stories are silent, except for here. In addition, the site served as anchor
for web rings of other agency related web sites maintained by agency supporters around the world.
However, after many years of service, the site ( like many of our old soldiers) became aged, infirm, and eventually (and
sadly) homeless. In the sites current condition, it's suffers many broken bones(links), both internal and external, lacks
visitor counters, database support, has missing images, and has an inconstant look in the latter additions. It is also
virtually unmaintainable, containing of about 600 web pages and ~2000+ documents and images in one flat folder. The site is in general, on
life support.

THE MISSION :
It is my intention to give the site a new home and, on third trick *, nurse the old soldier back to health.
The goals of this mission are as follows. These are long term goals, and some will take a while.
- Maintain the historical 'look and feel' of the original ASA ONLINE website. It is an old and scared battle buddy, worthy of saving.
- Fix broken bones(links) that can be recovered (or disable unrecoverable - long slient links.)
- Redesign the (invisible) internals, to make the site maintainable. This is one of the reasons for the patient got sick in the first place.
- Add a complete modern Content Management System. This will allow others, (without needing web knowledge), contribute their stories, while maintaining
the consistent 'look and feel' of the historical site.
- Add a forum, for our friends. Add a guest book for those who want to comment, or just say hello.
- Return the site to active duty, serving it old function's, as well as it's historical role.
